Nehalem. Not so much.

Yesterday we drove the coastline, starting in Seaside and driving down to Cannon Beach and then Manzanita, Nehalem and Tillamook. It was cold and kind of foggy but the scenery was beautiful and we saw a douche bag wearing a 2010 Boston jacket on the beach. Like, why?
Then I had a double Americano and a sugary treat and almost had a heart/anxiety attack because we only had a quarter tank of gas and I thought we were going to run out of gas before the next gas station and Michael almost beat me to death with a rolled up road map.
Back in Portland we had the best sushi ever on 23rd street in Nob Hill. Get the Calamari Bombs. I ate so much I almost threw up.
Had delusions of going for another run this morning, but that didn't happen. We drove to Olympia and checked out the state capitol. We seriously think they forgot to lock up the law court building across from the state building because we pulled open the giant front door and wandered in and actually went into the room where the supreme court sits. That was pretty cool and I'm glad we didn't get shot.
Then, in honour of the two year anniversary of my dad's death we rocked into one of the nicest restaurants on the waterfront on a sunny Friday night, sans reservation, and I was wearing shorts and a juvenile shirt (yeah no really: I bought a jean shirt today in the kids' section, plus TWO PAIRS OF ASICS RUNNERS FOR UNDER $100) and flip flops and we scored the best table in the joint because that's how I roll and I only wish that I had been wearing cutoff shorts and duck boots.
They had free tampons in the bathroom so I took two.
Who loves ya, baby?

Ain't it nice here in the States? Our kids are fat so foreigners can wear their clothes, our restaurants have lax dress codes because we're all slobs and we just give away feminine hygiene products! Yeah... that's how we roll. You didn't notice that they tacked on a hidden $5.95 for those tampons did ya?

Ha. No. I felt a bit bad. We were (okay: I was) rather underdressed for the restaurant. But the service was great and the food was fantastic as was the view.
Such a lucky night. Best table in the house sans reservation, balmy summer night, some live music on the nearby boardwalk.
Free tampons.
Seriously. Horseshoe. ;)
