Then I wanted to go for a bike ride again! But Michael wanted to take me into the wilds of the city and I was like "Ahhhhhhhhh". I didn't feel ready. But I did it. Getting out of North Van was kind of hairy and then over the Ironworkers and finally (phew) onto some bike paths. And we did have treats at the Union Market which I recommend if you're in the area. I had the best Americano ever and a scone and it came to $3.50. It was great. Wound our way through downtown Vancouver and onto the seawall, dinging my little bell at bedazzled tourists and encountering the bedlam that is Stanley Park on a sunny summer day in July. Lionsgate bridge and then home. It was the Tour duh Vancouver and I did it! Twenty miles. My ass isn't as sore as it was last time.
Then we walked down to drink in all that is "Pier Days" at the quay and, lo, there were two South Korean navy vessels there and I saw a guy wearing black leather shorts replete with leather suspenders. Nothing quite wraps up a summery day in July like military warships and tight fitting togs made of animal skin.
Lastly, I signed up for the running clinic (which started a month ago as the guy there so aptly pointed out). Apparently we're running 12 miles tomorrow morning at 8am. Wow. I knew there was a reason I delayed joining for so long. Running is hard. Sleeping in and biking in a really meandering fashion with no firm plan in mind (and scones and Americanos!) is where it's at.
I guess I'm supposed to go to bed now.
Yeah. So we'll see how that works out for me.
