I'm not running anymore

Across the finish line.
Felt apathetic and elated and very secure with the idea that six marathons is a lot and three in one year is a lot and it is definitely time for a break.
Found Michael shivering under the "R" at the family reunion section. He didn't look happy. He looked like he did in Boston: hypothermic and upset. He hugged me and said he loved me so much, but mostly he was just sapping me for my body heat because he finished in 3.30 - twenty minutes faster than me.
My family came to join me shortly thereafter and we made our way back to the hotel where we weighed ourselves for shits and giggles.
I had lost ten pounds from the day prior, and Michael had lost about 7 pounds. Both of us had experienced pretty bad muscle cramping during the race and I have to think that losing 8.3% of my body mass during the course of the run was a contributing factor to my less than stellar time.
On the other hand?
I'm glad I had a bad run.
Bad runs make your appreciate good runs.
It was a unique experience to have things fall apart to the extent that they did on Sunday.
It was cathartic to get to the point where I wanted to simply quit and to then keep on going knowing that, even though it was a dismal run, I could still bring it in one more time.

The White Rock is this weekend in Dallas, our high yesterday was in the low 30's! But it's supposed to be about 59 Saturday afternoon. My friend from school is only doing the 1/2.

Congratulations Tanis. You completed another marathon. That in itself is worthy of accolades. I'm glad you got to see how it is for the rest of us! ;)

Half marathons are the perfect distance.
If I run more marathons then I should definitely try and get them done in around 2.5 or 3 hours because then it's over with faster.
He he.

Yah, see, you write crap like this and still question where your book is?
Hmmmh. That, bye the way is the sound of a kick ass writer humbled.
