Narsty

It was pouring for today's run. And windy. Since we're on the taper we were scheduled to do 8 miles, but we did the route for the half marathoners and ran 13. My hats off to everyone that kept on in this cold, wet, blustery weather to pull in 18, 23 and 25 miles today: you guys rock.
Michael and I changed out of our clothing (which was so wet Michael actually wrung his out in the sink) and sat in the coffee shop waiting for the fulls to come in. I felt guilty for a moment, but I have done the 23 mile long run three times now, and I did put in 21 last Sunday.
One pace group all wore bunny ears and tails for their run. Awesome! I loved everyone's buoyant spirits and enthusiasm during the most challenging day of the clinic.
The really awesome thing that happened while we were out? I looked down at my knees and they were, um, foaming. I did a double take. Why was their white stuff all over my knees? Why was it foam like? I've been running for a few years now and this was new to me. Upon closer inspection I realized that it was soap: I guess I put too much laundry detergent in the last load (I remember doing it, cause it was a lot of smelly running gear) and the fact that I was soaked to the bone, coupled with the flexing movement of my knees was resulting in frothy knees. It was stupid. I would run a kilometer and then wipe off the foam.... and then it would come back again! I gave one final swipe before running back into Park Royal but man, it was like an Easter Miracle or something. Some statues weep; my knees froth.
Were met at my car by the West Van PD. I guess we had failed to close one of the back doors and so a security guard called them to check it out. We all arrived at the same time and I checked over everything and it looked fine, but the cop wanted to see my ID to make sure it was indeed my car. I was okay with it, except I have the wrong address on my license and that's a fine. She noted it but didn't ticket me. So that was an Easter miracle too.
Then I thought I lost my keys and had a conniption, but Michael had them. Easter miracle number three.
Okay. I have to pick up Michael and go to my mom's to visit with my aunt and Nana and her husband before going to a nice little send off in our honor tonight.
I love my running buddies. They're so smelly and sweaty and full of vigor and endurance.
I'm full of bubbles.

LOL I can just see you foaming up, you should have just lathered up and rinsed off in the rain. Did you know you can add white vinegar to your wash and it will deodorize it? Just pour about a cup in with the soap.
