Maple Ridge

This afternoon Michael, my mom and I went for cocktails and appies at my sister in law's parents' place in Maple Ridge. Seriously, I had to google Maple Ridge because I really couldn't remember exactly where it was. The GPS made getting out there pretty simple, though we kind of made a wrong turn somewhere on the way back and Michael thought he could improvise a way home because he is secretly threatened by the Tom Tom. I can laugh about it now, but like an hour ago I wanted to scream "just do what the disembodied voice emanating from the little black box says!".
It was a very fun evening, especially since Ellie was there: Christmas is always more fun when there are little kids around, like it was when Camryn was at our recent Christmas dinner. And it was nice to get together with all of them again: they are definitely becoming part of our extended family. Lots of laughing and funny stories.
I had planned also to finally show up to the clinic tomorrow morning. The clinic kicked off in November, but I've been running on my own because their mileage was too low. So when I saw a ten miler on the docket for tomorrow and because people are asking where I am, I felt it was time to return. Then I looked up tomorrow's route. RIDICULOUS. I'm going to need a sherpa to ascend to such towering heights. Talk about separating the wheat from the chaff. Jesus. But it's supposed to be a sterling day so I really have no reason for not gracing everyone with my beatific presence.
I'm going to have the greasiest, biggest burger when I see Big D for lunch afterwards.
As a vegetarian I'm sure he'll be so happy to witness that.

Appie is short for an Appetizer.

It's gorgeous out there. I'm heading for a 5k. Just a little starter run to break me in. See you at lunch you carnivorous beast you.

Yes. I guess I should get out there and do the run I was supposed to do three hours ago. :)
