Whatever happened to kickstands?

Back from Kits. Yeah, I'm not much for the designer dogs and handbags and all the skin tight Lululemon and UnderArmor gear and the gel nails, but I do so love the running. Coming back from Blanca along 4th with the sun highlighting the vivid red of the freighters anchored in the bay, contrasting against the lush green of the North Shore mountains, and seeing the Shangri La tower all but emblazoned as the strobes of setting sunlight hit it just so? It can not be beat.
Good luck trying to taper in Kits during stellar weather, lemme tell ya.
On Sunday I popped back to the North Shore for our last group run before the race. 6 miles. Sweet. I told Michael I wanted to go back to 10k runs again. Afterwards we went and looked at a bike advertised on Craigslist. Meh. On a lark we went to John Henry Bikes and saw the same bike (newer model) on sale. I took it for a spin and within three minutes I knew this was the bike: it fit perfectly. I bought it, and the exorbitantly expensive helmet that I've had my eye on (I was able to get $25 knocked off the price) and we were on our way. I was supposed to meet up with Big D for coffee back in Kits but he was on call and not having a good time of it so he asked for a rain check.
Called Michael and said "wanna go for a spin?". So much fun! Michael bought me a water bottle for the bike and strapped a couple of lights on it and we rode up and did the Demo Forest. Awesome. I love my bike. I love having my own bike again.
Between the new bike and my stay in sunny Kits - oh, and the new swank treadmill in my building's gym? My taper is not going well.
