I hate cars. Let's move to Portland.

Unfortunately for the brief duration we were in Seattle (less than 24 hours) I was never able to accept the fact that I was in Seattle. It was weird. No decompression time. I love Seattle. We again went to see the outdoor SAM exhibits, coffee in hand (after having a most invigorating shower that alternated between chilly and scalding with absolutely no warning).
Back in the car and on to Portland. We thought we'd stop in Longview because it has a big dot next to it on the map and the lettering is quite large. Yeah. Don't stop in Longview. Either we missed the integral bit, or that place is a hole.
Got lost trying to find our hotel in Portland (naturally: can I please have GPS for my birthday?) and finally checked in. Awesome, awesome digs. Old apartments converted into hotel rooms. We have a kitchen, two televisions... I haven't seen Michael for about an hour. Loving it. Central, spacious, quiet, cheap.
Chucked our luggage and went for a fantastic meal at Melt. We were both silent (and saddened) for a long time as we drank our Portuguese wine and our micro brewed beer while eating savoury gourmet salads and tapas and trying to figure out why no one in North Vancouver can figure this business plan out and replicate it.
I love Portland. I love it. I love all the foot passengers and the transit system and the scads and scads of people running and jogging and the cool vibe and the patios on the sidewalk and how friendly everyone is.
I mean really. You roll out of bed in the Nob Hill district, hop on your fixie and roll into work. How pissed off can you really be at life? There is a book store here that is so big I can't even tell you how big it is. I think we'll get there tomorrow.
