In matters of the flesh, incapable of rest

It's hot. Like, ridiculously so.
Michael and I have been toying with the idea of running the Summerland half when we're in the Okanagan at the end of the month. Last year it was 29 degrees. Today when I ran? It was 27 degrees and it took me over an hour to run 7 miles. I walked. I went through all my water and had to stop to refill it.
I don't do well in the heat.
Even Michael had trouble and he's usually the "oh, it really limbers me up guy".
In other running news (because that's really all the news I ever have): we are going to see the finishers come in for the Knee Knacker on Saturday. 30 miles of arduous trails. I keep company with some absolutely amazing people. I will be the one eating a doughnut and drinking a coffee, lounging in the sun at the finish.
I was totally in love with Oliver Utting who would win all the 10k races back in the day. And a couple of years ago Michael and I volunteered for the Knee Knacker and we're sitting there, all groovy, directing the runners and, lo and behold, I see a guy coming down the trail and I say "Man, that looks like Oliver". And it was! He placed second.
I was so excited.
I bet my hour long, 7 mile road run today would really impress him.

Good memory! You win the blue ribbon! Yes, it's the very same race.
Hmm... maybe we should dig those bear masks out. That was a good time.
