The Olympic torch will be passing by my work tomorrow

I felt bad, after Michael and I arranged and re-arranged my remaining onion rings, when a waitress came over wanting to know where we got our little flags.
She was so enthusiastic and exuberant and was trying to work her schedule out so that she and her daughter could make it out to see the torch which was on the North Shore today. She told us she had seen it pass by on its way to the Calgary Olympics (whenever that was).
I dunno. Whaddya say to someone making minimum wage plus tips who wants to make sure her daughter gets to experience a taste of the Olympics?
I'm a fledgling, abysmal, amateur athlete. When one decides to "go for the gold" it's no different that deciding to be an author or an actress or an artist. Why should society pay for it? I'd love to write for a living: I don't expect my government or the taxpayers to support it.
Plus the Olympics are rife with drug use and athletes are constantly being stripped of their medals when banned substances turn up in their pee like what almost happened to me once when I was applying for a job.
Last night C told me I sucked because of my bad attitude. I don't think I suck. I think the Olympics suck and they're not worth it. I agree I have a bad attitude, but I think I'm entitled to it because my arguments are rational and logical. I think he was just pissy because I'm a methodical chess player and I was taking too long to make my moves.
But the bottom line here is that I installed remote access on my computer today and I'm not sure why.

All I remember about the Calgary Olympics was when k.d.lang performed. She was AWESOME!

I agree, the O's can't be as amateur as they claim to be. There's just too many chances for cheating, in many forms. I'm not a fan of any kind of judged event either, too easy for pay-offs. Give me Curling, Shooting and anything that involves man against the elements and a clock and I'll watch it. And hurling upright bodies down really long slippery slopes can be entertaining too.

k.d. land IS awesome! Great voice.

I forgot, too, about the payoff factor. Like: ice skating? How objective are those judges?

I'd be good at shooting. I'd be a prolific markswoman in the next two weeks. He he.

I bet she was just using her daughter as an excuse.

Hubby thinks I should start practicing archery again and compete in the summer O's. I'm quiet good with bow and arrow. Or at least I was some years back.
