Mooncake

Today I had mooncake, to celebrate... the moon? I'm bad on Chinese culture. It was very, very nice of my coworker to bring a box of them around and offer them to everyone. I ate mine in its entirety. I'm don't discriminate when it comes to free pastries. I like when people are excited about events and cultural occasions and like to share them with gaijin like me.
I remember once going to one of Michael's coworkers' for dinner and they brought out this liqueur from their country of origin (Yugoslavia? Serbia? both time and drunkenness have diminished the memory). Anyways, I think you could use it as fuel for your car and I woke up with hair on my chest the next day, but I will never forget their hospitality and the great lengths that his wife went to prepare endless dishes of food for us to sample and try.
It goes back to that thing that I sometimes remember: people are inherently good and generous and want to share their experiences with you.
Speaking of experiences: my mom's cat is either some kind of wunderkat that will save me by waking me up when the building catches on fire in my sleep; or he is quite seriously demented and will be punted off the rooftop deck by Sunday.
Regardless, I'm all limber from yoga and I bet I can get a field goal.
I kid.
Mostly.
Did I mention that I have had pets all my life and that I volunteered with the SPCA? And not even the fun dog-walking position either: I did freakin' data entry.

How the hell did you get to be such a wonderful, smart, funny, disturbed individual? I have so many wishes for you. I hope that my daughter grows up to be you one day soon. She's already 21 and losing ground but she's on her way to being a half sane chick who has no issue with calling herself the great Duder.

Both of you are absolutely beautiful too. Coincidence?

Coincidence? No. I just always look ravishing from great distances in slightly blurred photographs from 2004.

I never said you were beautiful - in that photo. I was talking about generally beautiful. That is a definite 2004 photo. I would have guessed a 1997 photo. Too much hair. Not to say that I don't like longer hair on a woman but short hair seems to suit you so well. You are beautiful either way but you seem happier short and thus, more lovely. A happy Duder is a ravishing Duder. I didn't make that up. It was foretold by an Oracle more than 6,000 years ago. Don't Google it, just trust me.

Now I'm curious about Mooncake. I love learning and experiencing food/traditions of other cultures. We people from the states are sometimes so rude about trying food that may not look or smell like what we're accustomed to. Most of the time the culture offering the food just wants you to try it, they understand if in the end it doesn't appeal to your tastes.

My son once had a friend from the Philippines who was afraid to try a fully loaded cheeseburger because it looked too pretty. He said in his culture if food was pretty it usually tasted really bad. I bought him his first cheeseburger and he took it home to share it with his family.

Yeah. I remember when I turned up my nose at sushi. Now I pluck little fish from aquariums and drop them down into my gullet.
So fresh and flappy.
