Luscious

Coonawara's "The Musician" Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz blend is delectable. I am quaffing it to celebrate my whopping three mile run today, which Michael and I fought over. It went kind of like this:
Michael: "How was your run?"
Me: "Bad. I still have bad knee pain and I don't think I can do a half marathon, let alone a full."
Michael: "How far did you go? And by the way I was thinking about you all day because you're the sexiest thing I've ever seen."
Me: "I went three miles and by the end the pain was setting in and I couldn't have gone much further."
Michael: "You're putting too much pressure on yourself given that you ran a marathon on Sunday: you can't expect your body to recover so quickly. But you're infinitely beautiful."
Me: "I would've had a great run except for my knee: this has nothing to do with recovery - this is an old injury resurfacing."
Michael: "I understand that you are likely a MENSA candidate, but I think you're jumping to conclusions too quickly given that it's only been three days."
Me: "I'm going to drop down to the half marathon in Vegas and I'm going to beat your 1:37."
Michael: "Oh, something's going to get beaten alright."
And so on and so forth.
In other news: I love the fall. I love the way the leaves change colors and how the mist hangs over the north shore mountains as I drive over the Ironworkers Bridge on my way home. I like the acrid smell of smoke that tints the air and that I can see my breath when I run. I like the coolness on my skin and the way the rain beads on my face and drips off my nose. And how the fall gusts howl down the elevator shaft and the branches bob and weave outside the windows at work and the way, somehow, my little Civic is transformed into this luxury vehicle as I come into work, insulated from the weather, ensconced in the warmth blowing from my vents, jazz oozing from my speakers, sheltered from the buffeting wind.

I'm sticking to half marathons thank you very much. Me and my knees have a ways to go yet.

Ha. Ironically the very first time I had this issue was after I finished my first half (the Fall Classic) but I didn't know what it was at the time.
Remember to do your IT band stretches!
