Merry Christmas!

So today Big D came over to show off his new car. I had the distinction of being his first passenger and I felt appropriately honored. He said he wanted to take me for a spin and I had to be at my mom's place this afternoon and Big D lives near my mom so I said, "Um. Wanna take me for a spin to Vancouver?" and he acquiesced so it was super awesome. I'm so happy that he's so happy and I wish him many happy travels with his new wheels!
Jay came over to my mom's and then drove us into Richmond for the much, much delayed Christmas dinner with my father's side of the family. We had Chinese food. It was great to see everyone: a big spread. Lots of little kids. My cousin's newest addition stole the show. He was always smiling and laughing and scooting around and getting food all over his face and wanting to be bounced up and down and gurgling. God I hate kids. Two of the little bastards hugged me before they left (do I need to get inoculated for something?). Come on! What is the appropriate age to learn the value of a firm handshake? I do believe it's eight months.
The best was when another cousin's daughter (age five) announced: "I sleep with my eyes open!". Not to be outdone I followed up with, "That's called working." No five year old is upstaging me, I tell ya.
Caught a lift home with my aunt and yet another cousin. It really was a good visit. My uncle looks a lot like my dad. I noticed him rinsing plates at one point and I thought "those are my dad's hands". Weird. Then you start to go down that path but I quelled it and studiously studied the fish in the aquarium next to me.
Um, what else. The clinic is doing 13 miles tomorrow and I'm supposed to do between 14 and 16. I looked up the route and there is an extra leg that I can tack on to give me an additional 1.3 miles. The question is: when everyone turns off to head back to the store am I really going to slog it out for another 1.3 miles?
I am so super excited about Boston. I am already envisioning the crowds and giving on the side lines high fives as I cross the finish line (hopefully with a PB). And yes, I will be crying like what I always do when I finish.
I'm also really looking forward to taking a break after running four marathons because it does require a big commitment and I'm getting a little tired mentally and physically. I'd like to take a clinic off and maybe spend the time kayaking, or try boxing which is something I've always wanted to do. I like hitting people, what can I say?
That's about it.
Oh: we had trifle for dessert. Fack, I love trifle.

Great post. Very funny. Especially the kids bit.

I like kids... my kids. Most of our friends don't have kids and they think our kids are cool and were really good growing up. I wouldn't allow my kids to be annoying or obnoxious. We just stayed away from our relations who had kids, that would be Hubby's side.
