Michael and I booked a hotel in Boston from April 18th to the 21st. So, three nights. It cost us just over a grand. And that was actually a good deal. Holy shit, batman. I'd like to stay on a bit longer too, since I've never been to Boston before, but it appears that I may have to take to walking the streets to make some extra cash to pay for this fiasco.
Seriously. A thousand dollars? We haven't even booked the flights yet!?
Anyways, the good news is that I ate lots of treats and, where I normally would've spazzed out and punched the computer screen, I was only mildly irritated. Big step for me.
I can't find an appropriate segue for this, but I'll just say that I heard a marching band replete with bagpipes around 9:30 this morning. I cut through the park on my way to Michael's this evening and the grass was all muddied because a lot of people had been there to pay tribute at 11:11 today. There is a memorial in this park and I stood in front of it tonight, looking at all the wreaths and I cried. Some people had laid the poppies from their lapels on the memorial as well. It's a sad day. I remember Remembrance Day when I had cable and how I would just cry and cry through all the shows about lives lost. It's so sad and horrific that I can't even begin to contemplate it, not only for the soldiers fighting (or that fought), but for their families and loved ones.
Both my grandfathers were in the second World War.

That was a good post, mad me have tears in my eyes. My dad was in WW2, Army in No. Africa. And one of my mom's brothers was in the Aletuian Islands on as ship, the other brother was a Paratrooper dropped into France. Dad and Uncle Joe talked about their time in the service, but Uncle Louis, wouldn't... that drop into France in the big thick of it kind of messed him up for life.
I'm reading a book right now called "War" and it's about the history of warfare and why we fight and it's a really, really difficult read, that's for sure.
