Actually, I really liked Kitimat. The scenery was out of this world, and if you want a house for 50k: you got one, baby. Plus, we did some road trips to Prince Rupert, Smithers and New Hazelton. I had my first "energy drink" and had heart palpitations.
In Kitimat there is this tree that is really old. Like, 45 million years old. I dunno, I can't remember, but we took some photos of it. Except I was terrified that we'd be mauled by bears. So terrified that I managed to scare Michael's sister (who LIVED there) too, so we quickly scurried out of the car, into the bush, fawned over the tree and then sprinted back to the car, happy to escape with our lives.

Don't you know you are supposed to carry bells and pepper spray when going into bear country! Bears love to have a little music when they eat and they also like to season their food.
LOL. Too funny. I have to remember to tell that to my friends that hike. It's a funny image. I think there's a Far Side cartoon in there somewhere...
