I'm still bored

And on the fringes of getting in trouble.
In other news, my building is having a Hallowe'en party on Saturday night (yes, that would be November 1st) and they put a flyer up in the elevator with pictures from the last party and it was so effing sappy I wanted to cry. It's predominately retirees in my building and they are so, so nice. Like, Tuesday morning, two or three of them accosted me as I was waiting for the elevator to ask if I had heard the fire alarm go off the night before (scarily enough I had not heard it, so if I am burned to a crisp in my sleep I've changed my will, it's now 50/50 between Michael and Jay) and they were like, "Well the next time it goes off we will knock on your door to make sure you get up, and you can knock on ours".
But back to the flyer. A couple of good costumes from the younger set, and it was sort of a mixed bag with the older people, but everyone was grinning and laughing and drinking wine and, my god, these are the people I want to be when I am 70!
How did I, crotchety, overwrought Duder, end up in such a nice building?
I've mentioned the horseshoe up my ass before, right?
