Well, I went and did it. Ran 23 miles. So that was far. We ran over the IMB, through Chinatown, around Science World to Kits Beach, doubled back and went over the Burrard, along the seawall and over the Lionsgate. Fack. I kind of bonked at the end because of that effing stupid hill that leads up to Prospect Point and then when I ran up Keith I did a walk run (and eventually ended up talking to myself, encouraging myself to go on). Finished in about 3.10, maybe 5 or 10 minutes behind Michael which has amazed us both.
I remember the days of napping after a 10k. I remember limping to the car after my first half marathon. Now I've just banged off 23 miles and if I keep my eyes closed for too long I'm pretty sure I will fall asleep, but instead of napping Michael and I are going to take the $50 worth of Sony gift certificates that I had to endure public humiliation to receive, and we're going to buy earphones.
I strongly crave sushi. I had so much salt on my face after the run it was grotesque. I actually scratched my cheek, looked at my fingernail and there was a clump of salt granules. Some Japanese food should get my sodium levels back. And some sake will get my sanity back.
I hate the upset stomach I get from running. What's with that? Plus, I think I've OD'd on gels. When I think about taking one I start to gag (like what I did in the Vancouver marathon where I actually started to throw up). Gels are nasty. I'm going to run with ice cream from now on. And spicy tuna rolls.
Right-o.
So sleepy.

Ice-cream. Now there's a good eye deer. May I recommend Turkish ice-cream as it's somewhat sticky and won't fall off the cone.
